Replace driver's licence following a data breach

If your SA driver's licence details have been exposed in a data breach, you can apply for a replacement licence.

The usual $20 fee for a replacement licence will be waived.

You only need to replace your SA driver's licence if both your driver's licence number and the card number have been compromised.

When you replace your licence, your driver's licence number will remain the same but your card number will change. The card number is a unique security number on the back of your driver's licence and is required to pass a Document Verification Service (DVS) check.

You'll receive an email once your request has been processed, and a new card will be posted to you.

Your licence with its new unique card number will also be immediately available digitally on the mySAGOV app.
